Art that will win hearts and change minds.

The CraneCat Manifesto

Art is an overlooked key in achieving social change, capable of winning hearts and changing minds. Crane's mission is to bring art into the hands of the socialist cause.

"Crane" is an aspiring artist from California, with over five years of experience in contemporary art. He primarily focuses on fashion, creating illustrations that feature simple yet effective color blocking and minimalism. To maintain his anonymity, he chooses to separate his political work from his main body of art.

Crane's specialty is in creating art for events, activism, social media, and assets. He adopts the methods in the constructivist art movement. To create art that can be admired visually while also promoting social ideas and practices. To be used in moments of activism and serve as a form of public art.

For that reason, Cranecat's work is used to bring people together and not be confined to one's private residence.

He accomplishes his work by using simple geometric designs to communicate to a general audience which includes bold short slogans and striking colors that would appeal emotionally to the viewer. The subjects of his work are made to promote general topics that can be reused for multiple occasions.

The Inspiration for his work comes from vintage propaganda art, pictographic pioneer Gerd Arntz, and the 2007 film adaptation *Persepolis*.

Supporting the Cause

The Idea for CraneCat was born out of an artistic venture for a good cause. I fell in love with the works I had been making focusing on Socialist causes and discovered that I could contribute this talent to the movement.

My most significant contribution is to the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), the largest political organization in the United States. I was familiar with the DSA during my high school years, but it was only when I began offering my artistic work—such as posters, signs, and brochures for events and rallies—to my local chapter that I became involved.

As word about my art spread, more DSA chapters reached out to ask how they could acquire my artwork for their events.

From there, I began distributing my art into the hands of DSA Chapters across the county.

Looking at the Future.

All my work is driven by a personal passion. I create based on what inspires me at any given moment. This approach allows me to be adaptable and explore new frontiers. CraneCat is a voluntary effort—a passion project that will continue as long as I remain interested in it.

I want to ensure that CraneCat can find a place where it can still be utilized even when I move on to new pursuits. My mission is to offer CraneCat art to the DSA’s national chapter design kit, making it accessible to all chapters across the country free of charge.
